Dr Anton Moiseienko is a lecturer at ANU College of Law.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself including what brought you to ANU.

Following my PhD in London, I spent several years studying financial crime in a security-oriented think tank. I began to feel I miss legal academia, and ANU offered the perfect mix of coming back to the academia and the adventure of starting a new job on the other side of the world.

Among the outstanding alumni recognised was Josie Dempster (LLB (Hons) ’14, GDLP ’17), who was named the Barrister of the Year at the 30 Under 30 Awards.

Maintaining a healthy study-life balance is important for every law student. Some like to unwind with exercise or music. Others prefer exploring the outdoors or binge-watching the latest Netflix series.

For Jenny Kei, happiness is a blank canvas and her paintbrushes.

“I started (painting) when I was seven years old. I still remember my first picture – it was a building with fireworks in the background,” says Jenny.

“Art has always been a hobby on the side for me. My favourite genre is classical and Renaissance art and artists, such as Johannes Vermeer.”

A proud young Kamilaroi man, Max witnessed firsthand the difference lawyers can make in people’s lives. Now, he is determined to do the same.  

University of Canterbury, Dr Jelena Gligorijevic

Dr Jelena Gligorijević FHEA, an expert on constitutional law and media law at The Australian National University (ANU) College of Law, has been named the inaugural Gerard McCoy Visiting Fellow at the University of Canterbury School of Law, New Zealand.

The fellowship is named in honour of the late Dr Gerard McCoy SBS, QC SC, a well-known New Zealand barrister and constitutional law expert who practised and lived for most of his life in Hong Kong.

Keny

Keny Arcangeli (BIntR/LLB (Hons) ‘21) comes from a family with a long history of travelling to foreign lands in search of greener pastures.

This family tradition dates back to the 1940s when Keny’s paternal grandfather fled from the Axis-aligned Italian regime to start a new life in France near the end of the Second World War.

Years later, Keny’s parents moved from France to Australia in search of better opportunities, not only for themselves, but for their future child.   

“My parents come from humble backgrounds,” Keny said.

A team from The Australian National University (ANU) College of Law has won the Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) International Computational Law e-Moot, sealing back-to-back championships in the competition for the College.

The competition brought together 16 teams from nearly a dozen universities around the world including Australia, Germany, India, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

A legal practitioner, educator and researcher, Dr Hopkins is a leading authority on therapeutic jurisprudence in Australia and has deep expertise in criminal law.
