Dr Anne Gallagher AO is an ANU Law alumna named a “Trafficking in Persons Hero” by former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Dr Gallagher has built a formidable career in teaching, law, scholarship, human rights and the administration of criminal justice, and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2012.

To mark International Women's Day this year we are celebrating some of the women who make our College a world-leading institution for legal education and research.

Dr Imogen Saunders is a senior lecturer at the ANU College of Law who teaches and researches in public international law. Her publications include works on general principles of law as a source of international law, as well as the status of artificial islands in international law.

Magistrate Louise Taylor (BA/LLB ’01)

Louise Taylor (BA/LLB ’01) is an ANU Law alumna and the eighth permanent magistrate on the ACT Magistrates Court. She is the ACT's first Aboriginal judicial officer and in 2019 received the ANU Indigenous Alumna of the Year award.

Associate Professor Heather Roberts is a pioneer scholar on judicial swearing-in ceremonies. She teaches constitutional law, property law and equity and trusts. Her research examines Australian constitutional law and history, with a biographical focus. In 2017, she was awarded an early career fellowship by the Australian Research Council, titled “The Ideal Judge”.

The Australian National University (ANU) College of Law hosted the DLA Piper 2020 Australian National Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition. I had the privilege of serving as National Administrator for the 2020 National Rounds and was ably assisted by three of our best law students: Andrew Ray, Molly Tredinnick and Joseph Everdell.
