Interdisciplinary scholar Associate Professor Kate Ogg receives $426,000 for research into movement litigation from an Australian perspective.
Associate Professor Kate Ogg has been awarded Federal Government funding through the Australian Research Council’s (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) scheme, which aims to advance the career of promising researchers by providing funds over a three-year period.

Three alumnae from The Australian National University (ANU) College of Law have been named winners in the 2023 Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards and Corporate Counsel Awards.
Among the outstanding alumni being recognised for their work in the legal profession is Jyoti Haikerwal (BMedSci/LLB (Hons) ’18), who was the winner in the 30 Under 30 Health, Medical and Personal Injury category.

In 1993, Kuan Lim (BComm ’97) chose to pursue her undergraduate studies in Australia. However, she faced a tough decision in choosing where to study, made all the more difficult by the 3,600 kilometres between her two preferred cities.
“It was either Perth or Canberra,” she recalls.
Ultimately, it was The Australian National University (ANU) and the ‘bush capital’ that won her heart.
“I chose Canberra because it was further away from home,” Kuan chuckles.

It was 2017 when Natasha Moir first left her hometown of Sydney and ventured to Canberra to study a Bachelor of International Relations at The Australian National University (ANU).
Little did she know that this move would mark the beginning of a six-and-a-half year journey that would ultimately lead her to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts/Laws instead.

A spur-of-the-moment decision is what initially led Eloise Doherty to embark on a life-changing journey studying law at The Australian National University (ANU).
“I chose to study law because a family friend suggested that I would enjoy it,” Eloise said.
“Without much consideration, on the eve of the university application submission date, I decided to give law a go and move from Sydney to Canberra.”
“I can now say that it was the best decision I could have made.”

Studying law was a natural choice for Alice Dawkins (BAsSt (Hons) ’16, LLB (Hons) ’18). Arriving at The Australian National University (ANU) on a Hawker Scholarship, she was attracted to the College of Law’s lively public policy environment. Although discouraged by the drier parts of a legal education and regularly considering dropping out, Alice persevered because she knew that law would be a necessary part in her journey towards making a difference in society.

Carsten Smith, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Norway, is a prominent legal figure known for his commitment to social justice and human rights.
During the course of his illustrious career, Mr Smith played a significant role in advancing the rights of the indigenous Sámi people of Norway, serving as the inaugural chair of the Sámi Rights Commission.
Under his leadership, the Commission worked to promote the rights of the Sámi people and address historical injustices.
