Tess is currently studying a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and a Bachelor of International Relations at ANU. She undertook a college-arranged internship with Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service.
How did the ANU College of Law Internship Program prepare you for the professional world?
My internship provided me with the ability to learn technical legal expertise quickly, and gave me insight into careers in the community legal sector.
What was your favourite part of the ANU College of Law Internship Program?
Building trust and rapport when speaking with clients. Learning from the talented solicitors. Seeing those solicitors achieve great outcomes for the clients. A special thank you to my supervisor, who always took time and great care to support my learning.
Would you recommend undertaking an internship to other law students during their time at The Australian National University?
All law students should do an internship placement. It has been the most valuable experience of my studies and professional life to date.
