An internship provides a 'real litmus test' for students still discovering their passion in the law.
Paralegal
North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA)

Joe is a third-year Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Bachelor of Arts student. He recently finished his self-arranged internship with the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency (NAAJA).

How did the ANU College of Law Internship Program influence your future education and career choices?

The internship highlighted the difference between 'law' in law school versus 'law' in action. I now realise that practical experience is the real litmus test of whether you enjoy an area of law.

Can you share an experience from the ANU College of Law Internship Program that changed/challenged you personally?

I was fortunate enough to join NAAJA's Criminal Team on a bush court trip to Wadeye. From a law reform and policy perspective, I was confronted by the visible failings of the justice system.

Would you recommend undertaking an internship to other Law students during their time at the Australian National University?

Without a doubt. The internship was an invaluable experience that grounded and extended my understanding of law in a real-world context.

My internship was self-arranged and facilitated by the Aurora Internship Program. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you're considering applying :
