All sessions are held virtually over Zoom.

Week 1: Introduction to ISIP and ANU College of Law

Join Associate Professor Joshua Neoh, Sub-Dean (International), and our Student Admin team for the first session of the International Student Immersion Program (ISIP) as they chat about the program and life at ANU.

This is an excellent opportunity to get to know your fellow international students and preview what's ahead as you begin your ANU Law studies. Bring your enthusiasm and your questions!

Week 2: Examinations and assignments tips

Venue: -

As a new law student, preparing for law school examinations or starting on assignments may seem pretty daunting. LSS International Director Kevin Tanaya (Bachelor of Laws (Hons)/Politics, Philosophy and Economics) and Academic Skills Learning Advisor Benjamin Kooyman will share their best tips and tricks on how you can get ready for take home exams. Trust us, this is not a session to miss!

Week 3: Brief introduction to Australian society and culture

Believe it or not, there is more to Australian society and culture than Neighbours, Vegemite and chucking a snag on the barbie. Explore Australian society and culture through the eyes of Associate Professor Joshua Neoh, Sub-Dean (International), and fellow international student Himangi Ticku (Juris Doctor).

Week 4: Essay and referencing tips

Venue: -

Where do you even begin when it comes to academic referencing or essay writing? Join Benjamin Kooyman from Academic Skills and Associate Professor Joshua Neoh, Sub-Dean (International) as they take you through tips and tricks on developing fundamental academic skills. Don't miss the opportunity to develop foundational academic skills in this session!

Week 5: Brief introduction to Australia's political landscape

Venue: -

Along with cockatoos, kangaroos and echidnas, you're likely to encounter another iconic wildlife species in Canberra: politicians. You know about Parliament House, but do you know the difference between the upper and lower house? From Scullin to Sco-Mo, join Associate Professor Joshua Neoh, Sub-Dean (International), and a fellow international student as they unpack the Australian political landscape and what distinguishes it from their own respective countries.

Week 7: Brief introduction to Australia's legal system

Order, order! All rise for the session that gets to the heart of our program: the legal system. Join Associate Professor Joshua Neoh, Sub-Dean (International), and fellow international student Varshini Viswanath (Bachelor of International Relations/Laws (Hons)) as they examine how the Australian legal system works.

Week 8: English well-being enhancement

The transition to university is challenging enough without also having to leave your home country. Gain confidence studying in Australia and unlock your potential by improving your English and well-being with the English Well-being Enhancement Team! In this session, they will provide a taster class based on the series of workshops they regularly conduct.

Week 9: Brief introduction to Australian history

To understand the present, you have to know the past. Take a deep dive into the history of Australia with Associate Professor Joshua Neoh, Sub-Dean (International), and fellow international student Sam Xin (Master of Laws). Not only will your newfound knowledge enrich your time in Australia, it will also help your studies!
