Novel citizens: represenations of citizenship in law and literature
Have coalition policing efforts been effective since the 2001 intervention? The thesis will focus not only on policing efforts but whether or not the criminal laws are sufficient enough to enable the Afghan National Police to enforce the law outside of coalition assistance post 2014.
David Healey has a Bachelor of Laws with Honours (2008), a Master Degree in Military Law (2021), a Master’s Degree in International Customs Law and Administration (2011 – completed in Afghanistan) (LLM), a Graduate Diploma in Military Law (GDML) (2014), a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP) (2009) and is currently completing a PhD in law at the Australian National University on ‘Post conflict policing in Afghanistan’ which has been submitted in draft.
David was formerly a Federal Police Officer and Lawyer in the Australian Federal Police and now runs his own criminal and civil legal practices in the ACT. He is a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Australian Army where he is attached to Defence Counsel Services and defends members in superior tribunal matters.
He has deployed to the Solomon Islands and Afghanistan and is passionate about international law and human rights.
