Jane has forged a distinguished international career in the areas of gender equality, international human rights law and international labour law. She worked in the International Labour Office in Geneva, Switzerland for over 30 years where she was the Director of the Bureau for the Gender Equality. She has also represented the ILO in many United Nations bodies advocating for international labour standards on non-discrimination.

• Served in the Freedom of Association and Equality & Human Rights Coordination Branches, the Southern African Multidisciplinary Team, the Department for Government, Labour Law and Administration and the Department of Social Dialogue, Labour Law & Administration.
• Editor of the International Labour Law Reports.
• Senior Research Associate with the United National Research Institute for Social Development.
• Designed and delivered training programmes in the area of fundamental principles and rights at work, human rights and HIV/AIDS.
