Driven and talented, with experience spanning the political and media spheres, Jamila is among the most influential young voices in Australia. Rising to become a senior ministerial advisor, she left Canberra's corridors of power to help lead the growing online publisher Mamamia which now reaches more than 2 million women each month. Under Jamila’s stewardship Mamamia was named 'Brand of the Year' in 2013 and readership grew by almost 2000% in 3 years. Jamila has more than 60,000 highly engaged social media followers across Facebook, Twitter, SnapChat and Instagram.

  • In 2014 Jamila was named one of Cosmopolitan's 30 Most Successful Women Under 30 and in 2015, was listed as one of Australia's 100 Women of Influence by the Australian Financial Review. Jamila was a finalist for Best Newcomer in the 2014 Women In Media Awards and is one of Business Chicks Women to Watch of 2016.
  • She has appeared on Q & A, Studio 10, Mornings on 9, Today, 7.30, A Current Affair and The Morning Show. Her writing has also been published by Mamamia, The Huffington Post, The Age, The Guardian, Cosmopolitan magazine and in several anthologies.
  • Prior to entering the media, Jamila worked in politics for former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and Minister Kate Ellis.
  • Recognised as a joint recipient of the 2014 ANU Young Alumnus of the Year.
  • She is Ambassador for Care Australia's 'Educate A Girl' campaign, and the asylum seeker advocacy group 'Welcome to Australia'.
