LLM student: Sam Xiaoyang Xin

My name is Sam Xiaoyang Xin and I am studying the Master of Laws (LLM) program. I chose to study at ANU because it is one of the best universities in Australia and I believe it will prepare me for a bright future.

One of my most memorable experiences was conducting the Australian history presentation as a guest speaker for ANU College of Law International Student Immersion Program 2021.

Canberra is a great student city because it is the capital of Australia with many national-level museums including the National Museum of Australia, National Gallery of Australia, and Australian War Memorial.

After graduating I hope to keep learning while making a significant contribution to my work. I will do my best to realise the vision – for my long-term future – to become an excellent investor, combined with expertise in history, art and fitness. I will use my knowledge and wealth to create hope for people living in a disadvantaged position and help them secure educational opportunities because education can change their future.

My advice to new students is that you should always try to learn and grow. Do not be discouraged when facing doubts from others about whether you can make your dream come true. Be brave and strong. The attitude of gratitude, optimism, determination, perseverance, and resilience will help unlock your potential and open doors to incredible opportunities. Never give up!

When I was awarded the ANU College of Law International Merit Scholarship in Semester 2 2020, it was one of the greatest moments in my life. It encouraged me to keep moving forward, pursue my dream and never give up. Most importantly, I look forward to giving back this wonderful blessing that I have received from ANU in the future.
