Event description
It has been six months since the military coup in Myanmar. The takeover has disrupted the country’s workforce in various sectors, with workers participating in Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM) and the economy experiencing seismic contraction. The military junta's compliance with local and international labour standards is in question, particularly with respect to ILO Convention No. 87 on Freedom of Association. The seminar intends to explain and discuss Myanmar's contemporary labour affairs with a focus on the local and international Trade Unions role and efforts in the resistance and pro-democracy movement.
