Hosted by the ANU/National Judicial College of Australia’s Visiting Judges program, Associate Professor Roberts will lead an informal chat with Justice Taylor about her career and experiences.

Hon Justice Lesley Taylor
The Hon. Justice Lesley Taylor was appointed to the Supreme Court of Victoria in July 2018 and to the Court of Appeal in October 2022. She had previously practised as a lawyer for 25 years, including 20 years as a barrister at the Victorian Bar, where she was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2011.
As counsel, Taylor JA primarily undertook criminal cases, both prosecuting and defending. She has also worked in various international bodies. In 2004 and 2005, she was Senior Trial Counsel at the Office of the Prosecutor in Sierra Leone. In 2006 she was Senior Counsel assisting the Independent Commission of Inquiry into Timor Leste. In 2011 she was Senior Advisor to the Special Independent Commission of Inquiry into Kyrgyzstan.
Taylor JA has also taught advocacy internationally: in Uganda in both 2015 and 2017 and in Cambodia in 2016.
