Event description

The Sawer Lecture series in public law is named after the pioneer of Australian constitutionalism at ANU, Geoffrey Sawer. The lecture has been delivered by notable Australian and international legal experts. This year, we are pleased to welcome the Hon Mark Dreyfus KC MP, former Attorney-General of Australia, to deliver the lecture.

This event is hosted by the Centre for International and Public Law (CIPL) at the ANU Law School.

Speakers

The Hon Mark Dreyfus MP KC

Mark Dreyfus has been a member of the Australian Parliament since 2007 for the electorate of Isaacs.

He served as Attorney-General and Cabinet Secretary in the Gillard, Rudd and Albanese Governments. He practised as a solicitor and barrister from 1982 to 2007. In 1999, he was appointed Queen's Counsel.

As Attorney-General, he delivered an ambitious reform agenda, including establishing the National Anti-Corruption Commission, creating the Administrative Review Tribunal, making the family law system safer and simpler, and delivering the largest-ever investment in legal assistance.
