Students starting the Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree in or after 2021, are required to complete a research capstone by writing a substantial research essay (or equivalent) as part of their degree. This requirement may be satisfied by completing either the LAWS4300 Undergraduate Law Dissertation, or LAWS4700 Law Research Capstone Project, or a course which has a research essay (or equivalent) of at least 4000 words and worth a minimum of 50% of the assessment schedule.
The research capstone requirement allows students to refine their legal research and writing skills, both of which are fundamentally important for any law graduate.
