ANU College of Law Enrolment Guideline

For all ANU College of Law sessional courses, (Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring) students must be enrolled by the published “Last Day to Enrol” that appears under the class tab on every Programs and Courses LAWS coded course. Late enrolment requests will NOT BE ACCEPTED after this deadline for any reason.

Current and continuing coursework and non-award students must re-enrol themselves for each academic period by the appropriate deadline. Failure to meet the deadlines may have financial and academic consequences. Most course enrolments can be done through ISIS. The deadline for on time enrolment is always Monday of Week Two at 11:59pm.

Requests for late enrolment for semester length courses will be considered on a case by case basis. Students are required to complete theANU College of Law Application for Enrolment Change form, listing the course(s) they wish to add or swap. Students are advised not to contact the Course Convenor for approval as this is not a determining factor. Applications will be assessed, and students will only be provided permission to enrol if the Delegated Authority determines that they will not be disadvantaged by late enrolment. Factors include, but are not limited to, missed content and/or assessment, availability to enrol into tutorial groups and student past performance. Please also be advised that late enrolment is not grounds for a coursework extension and any request will be declined. The deadline for late enrolment is always Monday of Week Three at 11:59pm.

Late enrolment requests will NOT BE ACCEPTED after this deadline for any reason.

You will be notified of the outcome of your application via email to your ANU Student Email account. The Student and Education Support team appreciates that any request for late enrolment is time sensitive. All applications for late enrolment are given priority to ensure that students are enroled as quickly as possible.

If an application is approved, students will be automatically enroled into the course(s).

How to Enrol in and drop enrolment in classes

Please refer to the Enrol for the first time as a coursework student for more information on how to enrol in classes.

The ANU College of Law strongly recommends that you enrol in classes as soon as possible.

Concurrent Enrolment (enrolling in classes outside of your degree structure)

In accordance with the Coursework Awards Rule a student enrolled in a coursework program cannot undertake, or continue to undertake, any other studies at ANU or another educational institution while they are enrolled in the program without written approval from the Delegated Authority to do so.

Concurrent enrolments are not encouraged. Any approval of concurrent enrolment is given on the basis that students undertake concurrent enrolment at their own risk and that it will not be grounds to seek any adjustments authorised by the extenuating circumstances application (ECA) process.

Students who wish to be concurrently enrolled in two programs must complete the online Application for Concurrent Enrolment. The relevant delegate will consider the applicants academic record and reasons for wanting to enrol concurrently. The timing of the courses to be undertaken in the proposed program and the workload involved will also be considered.

If approval is given, it will be for specified courses on specified dates only. Any further proposed concurrent study will need to be assessed and approved individually.

Concurrently enrolled students will have only their ANU enrolment used to calculate full-time or part-time status unless their enrolment is part of a joint or dual Award that is covered by a formal agreement.

Approval for concurrent enrolment with any other program will not be granted for students in their first year of Law studies in the LLB and JD programs.

Students seeking to be enrolled concurrently should read the ANU policy: Coursework Awards Rule and apply using the Application for Concurrent Enrolment.

Swapping or dropping a course

Please refer to the swapping or dropping courses page for more information that includes a how-to guide.

You must add or swap your courses by the ANU deadline every semester. This deadline is the Monday, Week 2 of each semester. Check the Programs and Courses webpage for non-standard session enrolment deadlines (Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring).

Late Enrolment

The deadline for Late enrolment is always Monday of Week Three at 11:59pm. Requests for late enrolment after this date will only be considered on a case-by-case basis. (check the Programs and Courses webpage for non-standard session enrolment deadlines: Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring).

Should you wish to apply for late enrolment, you are required to complete the ANU College of Law application enrolment change form. The College must be satisfied that enrolling late into courses will not negatively impact on students' academic success.

Requesting a permission code

Some courses will not allow you to enrol via ISIS without a permission code. Please contact the College Student and Education Support team if you require further assistance.
