ANU Law alumni recognised in 2023 King's Birthday honours
King's Birthday Medal

The Australian National University (ANU) College of Law congratulates all members of our community who have been acknowledged in the 2023 King’s Birthday Honours List. 

Nine ANU Law alumni have been recognised in the 2023 King's Birthday Honours List for their outstanding achievements across a broad range of fields, and for their invaluable contribution to our society. We are proud to extend our warmest congratulations to all of our alumni who were recognised this year.

Ms Amanda Chadwick PSM (BA '92, LLB '95)

Ms Chadwick was awarded a Public Service Medal for her outstanding public service to the water and local government sectors.

Ms Sarah Chidgey PSM (BA '97, LLB '99, GDLP '00)

Ms Cidgey was awarded a Public Service Medal for outstanding public service through policy development and law reform in integrity frameworks, criminal justice and national security.

Mr Robert Clynes OAM (LLB '74)

Mr Clynes was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the law, and to the legal profession.

Mr Michael Cowen AM (GDipMilLaw '18)

Mr Cowen has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for exceptional service as Chief Judge Advocate of the Australian Defence Force.

Miss Virginia Leitch PSM (BSc '94, MEnvLaw '14)

Miss Leitch was awarded a Public Service Medal for outstanding public service in developing the business case for rehabilitation of the former Rum Jungle uranium mine.

Mrs Angeline Lewis CSC (GDipMilLaw '07, SJD '10, GDLP '10)

Mrs Lewis was awarded a Conspicuous Service Cross for outstanding achievement in the provision of legal services to the Australian Defence Force.

The Honourable Justice Geoffrey Lindsay AM (BEc '75, LLB '77)

Justice Lindsay has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the judiciary, the law, and to the legal profession.

Ms Margery Nicoll AM (LLB '79)

Ms Nicoll has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the law, and to the legal profession.

Mrs Catherine Wallis CSM (GDLP '99, LLB '99, LLM '08)

Mrs Wallis was awarded a Conspicuous Service Medal for devotion to duty in managing inquiries and investigations in the Office of the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force.
