Join a panel of some of the ANU CoL’s most senior and experienced Professors will come together in a zoom roundtable to share their reflections on how they were able to sustain and build their research careers, and some of the lessons learned which can be applied during the pandemic.

Professor Donald Rothwell FAAL

Donald R Rothwell is one of Australia’s leading experts in International Law with specific focus on the law of the sea; law of the polar regions, use of force and implementation of international law within Australia. He is the author of 24 books and over 200 book chapters and articles including, with Tim Stephens, the influential and respected academic text, The International Law of the Sea (2nd ed, 2016). His most recent work is International Polar Law (Elgar: 2018) co-edited with Alan Hemmings.

Emeritus Professor Tim Bonyhady AM, FAAH, FASSA

Emeritus Professor Tim Bonyhady is one of Australia’s foremost environmental lawyers, cultural historians and curators. Tim has also been an advisor to Commonwealth and State inquiries into environmental law and has curated exhibitions for the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, the National Library of Australia, the National Gallery of Victoria, the National Gallery of Australia and the Australian National University including one exhibition about colonial portraiture, another about fin-de-siecle Vienna and two devoted to Afghan war rugs.

Emeritus Professor Stephen Bottomley FAAL

Emeritus Professor of Commercial Law, Stephen Bottomley is an expert in corporate law with particular emphasis on on corporate governance. His main areas of research interest are corporate governance, and law and regulation. He has also published in the areas of corporate theory, corporate regulation and government-owned enterprises.

Professor Peta Spender FAAL

Professor Peta Spender is an Emeritus Professor and a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Law. She is a Presidential Member of the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal and formerly appointed to the ACT Courts Joint Rules Advisory Committee. Her research passions straddle corporations/financial markets law and litigation. She has published widely in both areas and made submissions to various law reform bodies including the James Hardie Special Commission of Inquiry.

Professor Fiona Wheeler FAAL

Fiona Wheeler is an Emerita Professor in the ANU College of Law, ANU. She joined the ANU in 1990 and served in the College as Sub-Dean (2000-2003), Director of Research (2006-2008), Head of School (July-December 2009) and Deputy Dean (January 2010-June 2014), serving as Acting Dean on numerous occasions. She has been a member of many College and University committees and served as Chair, ANU Academic Board (2012-2014). Prior to her appointment to ANU she was an Associate to Justice Mary Gaudron, High Court of Australia (1989-1990)
