Welcome to the ANU Law Reform and Social Justice website. In our teaching, research and community engagement, we explore law’s complex role in society, and the part that lawyers play in using and improving law to promote both social justice and social stability.

We produce the 'An Active Approach to Studying Law' guide, which can be found on the right-hand sidebar, and a newsletter that updates the Law Reform and Social Justice community on our activities.

Follow the links below to learn more about our student projects, events and the social justice ethos here at the ANU College of Law.

We regularly post LRSJ news and opportunities on Facebook. You can email us at with any questions and suggestions and to join up to our mailing list.

An active approach to studying law

This guide (PDF, 449KB) provides law students with information about how to take an active approach to studying law, and useful contacts for legal organisations in Canberra that accept student volunteers.

Our twice-yearly newsletter contains a note from ANU LRSJ director Professor Simon Rice exploring current issues in law reform and social justice, gives updates on what the student projects have achieved and highlights LRSJ's events and activities.

Past newsletters can be found here.
