Prashant Kelshiker and Sonali Fernando
Two students from the ANU College of Law, Prashant Kelshiker and Sonali Fernando, have been awarded the inaugural scholarships to undertake an internship in a London Legal Firm or Barrister Chambers over the Australian summer. The scholarships are unique to ANU Law, made possible by vision of ANU law alumni working in London.

Michael Kirby and Phim Dowell
ANU College of Law alumnus Phim Dowell (BA, LLB (Hons) ’15) has been awarded the Animals and the Law Prize for the 2015 academic year, a biennial award for the student enrolled in the Animals and the Law elective who achieves the highest marks in the course.

Pia Walker
From a young age Pia Walker wanted a career with a human rights focus. She is active in law reform and social justice and volunteered as a student researcher for the ACT Human Rights Portfolio and was a volunteer member of the Community Legal Education Program.

Professor Michael Coper
On Friday 2 December a conference celebrating the achievements of Michael Coper will be held in the Common Room, University House. Michael is a “big picture” person whose vision has always focused on the future. The conference’s title, “New Ways Forward”, with its tone of energy and optimism, could not be more fitting for an event celebrating the career of Michael Coper and reinforcing the continuing beneficial effects of his achievements.

Applications for the Yuill Scholarship, which the ANU College of Law has established, are now open. The scholarship provides funding to support participation in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Traineeship Program.

Abbey Seckerson
Fifth Year law student at the ANU College of Law Abbey Seckerson has gained an internship, beginning in December, at the OECD in Paris. An active member of the Corporate Accountability Project at the ANU College of Law, Abbey will be researching issues about access to justice.

Kashpee Wahid
The ANU College of Law awards a Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) Scholarship annually. Kashpee Wahid (BA/ LLB (Hons) ’13, GDLP ’14) is this year’s recipient of this prestigious scholarship. Only one such scholarship is awarded in Australia.

Lawyers Weekly
The inaugural Women Lawyers Association ACT awards were announced on the evening of Thursday 3 November at a gala dinner at Old Parliament House. The night was a triumph for the ANU College of Law, with alumni winning in most categories and College alumna and staff member Margie Rowe (BA ’84, LLB ’84) being honoured in both the Community and the Academic categories.
