Gender, Law and Development: Exploring the links in Research and Practice

Overview
The links between gender, law and development remain surprisingly under-explored in both research and practice. This project aims to draw these three fields together and produce at least one significant publication exploring the links between gender, law and development, in order to sketch out and establish a longer-term research agenda.
This project will contribute to current and emerging discussions, producing a series of case studies of specific "law and development" interventions that raise questions about the conceptualisation and navigation of tensions between respect for customary and informal justice systems on the one hand, and international norms regarding women's rights on the other.
