Biography

I am Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Law Arts and Humanities at the Australian National University and also have attachments in Cultural Studies at the University of Sydney and Communication at the University of Technology Sydney.

I have written several books of philosophy and creative nonfiction; most recently, Sacred Exchanges: Images in Global Context, on Aboriginal acrylic painting, was published by Columbia University Press in 2012. My 2004 book of creative nonfiction The Real Desire was shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Award. I regularly write articles and reviews for both mainstream and academic publications.

I have taught philosophy and creative writing at several Australian universities.

My publications include Sacred Exchanges: images in global context Columbia University Press (New York) 2012. I regularly write for art journals such as eyeline, Realtime, Australian Author and for the on-line UK website Berfrois and publish academic articles in international scholarly journals.
