For Alice Bradshaw, who graduated from the ANU College of Law in December, studying at ANU is a family affair.

“My parents met at Burton Hall when they were at ANU studying economics and law. I didn’t intend to follow my parent’s footsteps, but here we are,” she said.

While she might be a born and bred Canberran, Alice said it was the international opportunities during her time at ANU that would leave a lasting impression.

“I had a Semester on exchange at University College Dublin where I studied law and had the opportunity to live on campus and travel around Ireland,” she said.

“I also attended the International Alliance of Research Universities (IARU) Global Summer Program at the University of Cambridge where I had the opportunity to live in a Cambridge college, study with a group of top students from our IARU partner universities, and hear lecturers from Cambridge professors.”

Alice was one of 260 undergraduate and postgraduate students to attend a graduation ceremony at Llewelyn Hall where she was officially presented with her Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor Laws with First Class Honors from ANU Chancellor Gareth Evans.

Being a local student also allowed Alice to be a part of the University’s innovative non-residential college, Griffin Hall, which allows local students to have all the opportunities and experiences of a campus lifestyle.

“Griffin is a unique drawcard for local students – you can live here in Canberra and still experience all that ANU has to offer on campus,” she said.

Next year, Alice will be starting a graduate traineeship at Melbourne law firm Arnold Bloch Leibler where she will be practicing competition and consumer litigation.

An additional 532 students of the ANU College of Law graduated in absentia.
