Engaging Students in Large Lectures
Friday 30th June 2017, 9am – 11am; (Location: CHELT Seminar Room, Chancelry Building 10T1)
Learn strategies to engage students in large lectures with easy techniques. A practical workshop where we explore how to use discussion strategies to promote critical thinking among students, look at technologies for feedback and classroom response, and active learning methods, all within the lecture format.
Enhancing Your Lectures: Strategies for Student Engagement
Fully online course, Wed 30th June – Wed 5th July.
This course takes just 10 minutes per day, and will cover hands-on strategies to deliver effective lectures. It will include strategies to promote critical thinking in students, how to create more effective presentations, and technologies to engage students, and will discuss trends and issues with the lecture as a mode of delivery.
Wattle (Moodle) Basics
This session introduces Wattle (or Moodle), the university’s learning management system. It is ideal for any staff new to teaching, or new to the ANU. It will demonstrate how to access, build, and teach using your course Wattle site.

Echo360 Room Familiarisation
This session is a demonstration of how the Echo360 lecture recording system works. This session will explain how the Echo360 recording is scheduled and how to start an ad hoc recording.

Turnitin Training Workshop
This session will cover how to set up a Turnitin assignment, interpret the results in the originality report, and how to deal with issues of academic integrity and plagiarism. It will familiarise you with the Turnitin assignment and the university's academic integrity principles.

Quizzes: Building Wattle Quizzes
This session explores ways in which Quizzes can be used in Wattle to create opportunities to support the teaching and learning needs of your course.

Drop-In Wattle Consultation
Every Wednesday, 12pm – 1pm; from 5th July 2017 to 15th November 2017, (Location: (CHELT) meeting room, 1.35, Chancellery Building 10T1)
All lecturers, tutors, and demonstrators are welcome to attend the drop-in session at any time between 12pm - 1pm, each Wednesday during semester, to receive one-on-one support from the ANU Online team.
Registrations are not required for the Wattle Drop-In Consultations.
Come along with your Wattle question, and members of our team will attempt to assist you to solve your problem.
