Dear Colleagues,
Last Friday night the ANU held its annual Alumni Awards ceremony at a gala dinner at the National Museum. I am very pleased – and proud – to share with you the news of the great recognition given to members of the Law Alumni community.
The 2017 Young Alumna of the Year award was presented (in absentia) to Helen Zhang - B Asian Studies/LLB Hons (2010), GDLP (2011). This is the fifth year in a row that this award has gone to a member of the Law alumni community.
The 2017 Alumnus of the Year – Philanthropy award was presented to Justice Richard Refshauge SC – BA (Hons) (1972), LLB (1975). This is the third year in a row that a Law graduate has received this award.
The 2017 Vice-Chancellor’s Commendation – Student Philanthropist of the Year (Undergraduate) was awarded to Caitlin Figueiredo, currently studying the Bachelor of Development Studies/LLBHons double degree.
And to round out the Law connection, one of the two MC’s for the evening was Alan Wu - GDLP (2012), LLM (2016) – the 2016 Young Alumnus of the Year.
The continued recognition of our graduates and current students at these annual awards speaks volumes about the quality of our students. It also underlines the quality of the education and the broader learning experience that we provide.
Full details of the Awards, and the remarkable and inspiring stories of the recipients, can be found on the ANU Alumni website
Congratulations to Helen, Richard and Caitlin!
Regards, Stephen
