ANU Law School staff movements - Level C to E appointments

Staff appointments

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to be in a position to provide you with some information about the outcome of the ANU Law School Appointment process (you will recall that seminars and interviews were run in late July). This email concerns Level C to E appointments that have been confirmed from the appointment round. There will be a later announcement about some Level A and B appointments.

It gives me great pleasure to announce four new appointments. They are, in alphabetical order, Will Bateman (Level C), Jeremy Farrall (Level D), Natalie Klein (Level E), and Greg Weeks (Level D).

Will Bateman is currently at Cambridge, but this will be a welcome return to ANU where he did his BA, LLB (Hons degree), graduating in 2008. He will bring to the Law School his strength and expertise in constitutional law and public law more generally.

Jeremy Farrall is currently in the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy in the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific. He holds a BA.LLB from Melbourne and a PhD in international law from University of Tasmania. His research specialises in decision-making within the United Nations Security Council, including peacekeeping and the use of force.

Natalie Klein will join us from Macquarie University where she was Dean of the Law School from 2010 to March of this year. Natalie’s research and teaching expertise lies in international law, especially international adjudication, law of the sea, and maritime security.

Greg Weeks is already well known to us as a colleague, having joined us from UNSW Law School at the beginning of this year. Greg is a leading public law scholar, with a particular strength in in administrative law and judicial review.

Will, Jeremy and Natalie will be joining is in the new year. Together with Greg they will each add greatly to our teaching and research. Please join me in congratulating them, and welcoming (or, in Greg’s case, re-welcoming) them into our community.

Regards, Stephen
