In the lead up to Mental Health Week, the ACT Law Society is providing a free seminar presented by Maria Falas, Head of Mental Health and Wellbeing from OnePath Life Limited (legalsuper’s group insurer).

Lawyers, being perfectionists, will often avoid talking about mental illness, fearing an impact on career progression, or being 'exposed' as not 'good enough'. Most remain blissfully unaware that in this high-pressure environment a large number of their colleagues are also suffering in silence—not just fellow lawyers, but also their support staff are affected either directly or indirectly by the effects of stress and mental illness.

Maria will provide insights on the direction the life insurance industry is taking to further support mental health and wellbeing. A workshop will follow to understand the needs and ideas that are being considered and how these can support the legal community.
