Peter Burnett

Peter Burnett has been researching Australia’s national policies on Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD). He argues that although ESD has been a successful concept in public discourse and is capable of serving as an effective goal for environmental policy, it has been implemented poorly, resulting in policy that is neither well-directed nor properly measured. In his thesis oral presentation Peter will develop this argument through case studies that illustrate the application of economic, scientific and legal modes of thought to this complex topic.
