Information session
Jessup Moot

The Jessup Moot is a prestigious international mooting tournament, which takes place over the Australian summer. It is the biggest student mooting competition in the world, with over 500 law schools and over 80 countries participating. The Australian rounds are held in Canberra in early February and the international rounds are held in Washington DC in March. The top two teams from the Australian competition travel to the United States to compete in the international rounds.

  • The Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is a simulation of a dispute between two countries before the International Court of Justice
  • It counts as a JD/LLB elective
  • The elective runs from November 2017 to February 2018 (with two winning Australian teams progressing to the international competition in Washington DC in March 2018)
  • Great way to gain an in depth knowledge of public international law, enhance your oral advocacy skills, and make contacts within the legal profession.
