RBG

RBG, a documentary directed by Betsy West and Julie Cohen, explores the career, legal legacy and life of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg of the US Supreme Court.

The film traces her trailblazing work on women's rights as a lawyer and the force of her jurisprudence, often at its fiercest in dissent. It features interviews of Justice Ginsburg, her, colleagues at the Supreme Court, activists, politicians, and her family, The documentary shows her impact on law and social justice and as a fullyfledged pop-cultural icon.

This screening will be followed by a panel discussion with prominent academics and lawyers Margaret Thornton, Heather Roberts and Prue Bindon.

ANU Law Reform and Social Justice will be offering 100 free tickets to this event to students and friends.

    Professor Margaret Thornton is an internationally recongnised socio-legal scholar who has published widely on discrimination, the impact of corporatisation on universities and work-life balance in corporate law firms.

  • Heather Roberts »

    Dr Heather Roberts is a Senior Lecturer at the ANU College of Law and is the leading and pioneering scholar on judicial swearing-in ceremonies. Dr Roberts' work provides a rich narrative history on judges and changing attitudes towards women in the law.

  • Prue Bindon »

    Prue Bindon is a prominent barrister and an Associate Lecturer at the ANU College of Law.She has worked internationally as a lawyer and was the President of the Women Lawyers Association ACT.
