In July 2010, the LR&SJ Program convened a roundtable of discrimination law experts to respond to a Commonwealth Government proposal to amalgamate the four federal anti-discrimination statutes. Many of Australia’s leading discrimination law scholars – including Margaret Thornton, Peter Bailey, Wayne Morgan and Simon Rice from the ANU College of Law – gathered at ANU to discuss the future for protection against discrimination under federal law.

The discrimination roundtable agreed on a response to the proposed amalgamation, and provided that advice to the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department.
