HDR Forum

The annual Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Forum for the ANU College of Law will be held on Friday, 4 May 2018.

This event is your annual opportunity to connect, network and build relationships with ANU College of Law academics and Higher Degree by Research students. Designed and implemented by your fellow HDR students, this is also an opportunity to showcase the wide variety of high-quality research undertaken by you and the whole ANU College of Law HDR cohort.

This year the forum is focussing on the topic of ‘Insight’, and the program is designed to explore insights into presenting your work, preparing papers, getting published and making your work available on social and other media. The Insight Forum aims to unite all HDR students, wherever they are located, and provide an opportunity to present and talk about your research in a supportive environment, whatever your stage of research.

The Insight Forum

The Insight Forum program has a practical focus, designed to assist you in your research presentation, publication and career. A wide range of ANU College of Law academic staff have agreed to join us for these sessions, to provide their advice and experience. The program will include:

  • An interactive masterclass, where participants will prepare a presentation on their research, supportive feedback will be contributed by fellow researchers in a similar field, and a member of the academic staff will give a brief introduction on presentation skills;
  • A careers session, that will provide advice on postdoctoral work, obtaining fellowships, academic hiring processes, and grant writing; and
  • Sessions on publishing and marketing your research content, including tips for journal publications, getting your content out there on social media, and writing for a general public audience.
