Associate Professor Porat will give a historical and comparative review of proportionality. He will also consider some of the main lines on which the debate over proportionality has been drawn and their possible application to the Australian context.

Iddo Porat »
Iddo Porat is an Associate Professor of Law at the College of Law and Business, Israel. He specializes in constitutional law, comparative constitutional law and legal theory. Professor Porat graduated from the Hebrew University, clerked at the Israeli Supreme Court and earned his LLM and JSD from Stanford Law School. He is a recurring visiting professor at San Diego Law School, and is currently a Senior Fellow at the Center for Comparative Constitutional Studies at Melbourne Law School. His recent book is Proportionality and Constitutional Culture (Cambridge University Press, 2013) (with Moshe Cohen-Eliya).
