In this roundtable discussion, to be hosted by the Asia-Pacific College of Diplomacy and the Centre for International and Public Law, a panel of UN Security Council experts will explore the phenomenon of elected member (E10) diplomacy on the UN Security Council. Elected members serve on the Security Council for fleeting two year terms. Among the major challenges confronting incoming E10 members are swiftly mastering the substance of Security Council discussions and learning to engage strategically with the P5 and fellow E10 members through the Council’s complex negotiating dynamics. The roundtable panel will be led by Ambassador Colin Keating, who is visiting the ANU with the assistance of the Research School of Asia and the Pacific’s Distinguished Visitor Program.
