Mykytowycz appointed Magistrate

Michelle Mykytowycz, BA ’96, GDLP ’07

Michelle Mykytowycz has been appointed a new Magistrate of the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria. She has worked as a barrister practicing in criminal law matters and worked with the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Taylor appointed ACT’s first Aboriginal judicial officer

Louise Taylor , BA ’01, LLB ‘01

Louise Taylor has been announced as the ACT’s first Aboriginal judicial officer. She has been appointed as the eighth permanent magistrate at the ACT Magistrates Court. She has practiced law in the ACT for more than 15 years.

Shine Lawyers has appointed Katrina Stouppos as its new head of comcare. The new role will see her as the team leader for federal compensation law across comcare, aviation, maritime and travel law.

Colin Davidson, recently promoted to Partner at Sparke Helmore, has been selected to lead the firm’s new office in Darwin. He is a highly-regarded insurance lawyer with more than 23 years’ experience with a particular focus on insurance litigation.

Peter Woolcott AO has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Australian Public Service Commission. He was previously Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister and Australia's High Commissioner to New Zealand.

Katerina Calvert has been appointed a Special Counsel at Maddocks in the Canberra office. She is a specialist in government advisory work, including probity advice, and litigation having previously worked at Sparke Helmore.

Two ANU Law alumni have been promoted to Partner at MinterEllison. Edward Campbell (BSc ’04, LLB ’05, LLM ’10) in the Canberra office in the Infrastructure, Construction and Property group and Kate Plowman (GDLP ’01) in the Sydney office.

Taylor appointed Victorian Supreme Court Judge

Lesley Taylor QC , BA (Hons) ’92, LLB (Hons) ’92

Lesley Taylor QC has been appointed a Judge of the Victorian Supreme Court. She has served as a criminal law and human rights specialist, with twenty years’ experience appearing in high profile cases and inquiries internationally.
