Emerita Professor Robin Creyke AO has been appointed a Consultant at Proximity – a boutique firm specialising in the government sector. Robin is an Emerita Professor at the ANU College of Law and specialist in administrative law.

O’Connor appointed to K&L Gates

Matthew O’Connor, BSc (Hons) ’96, LLB (Hons) ’98, GDLP ’99

Matthew O’Connor has joined K&L Gates in Melbourne as Special Counsel. He is part of the Energy, Infrastructure and Resources team and has more than 15 years’ experience working in Australia and Asia including practising in Tokyo and Singapore.

Ben Chen has started as an academic at Sydney Law School teaching Private International Law A and Equity. He is a doctoral candidate at Columbia University School of Law with his research focusing on mental incapacity in private law.

Jeremy Murnain has rejoined Dentons as Special Counsel in the banking and finance area. He was previously with Herbert Smith Freehills and Baker McKenzie in London. He has over 15 years’ experience in banking and finance and property and construction.

Yates appointed as ACT Victims of Crimes Commissioner

Heidi Yates, BA '05, LLB (Hons) '05, GDLP '06

Heidi Yates has been appointed as the ACT's new Victims of Crime Commissioner beginning in March. She was previously head of general practice at Legal Aid ACT and has played a major role in reforming family violence legislation in the ACT.

Dr Virginia Marshall has received the Distinguished Women Scholars Award from the University of Victoria. She was honoured for outstanding research achievements by a female scholar. She is Australia's leading legal scholar on Aboriginal water rights.

John Reid has been awarded a Public Service Medal in the 2018 Australia Day Honours. He has been recognised for outstanding public service through the provision of legal advice to the Commonwealth.
