Gillis receives scholarships to Cambridge

Matilda Gillis , BA ’16, LLB (Hons) ’16, GDLP ’17

Matilda Gillis has received the Henry Arthur Hollond Studentship and the Lionel Murphy Scholarship. She will commence studying a Masters of Law specialising in international and public law at Trinity College at the University of Cambridge.

Dickson receives 2018 R.G. Menzies Scholarship

Simon Dickson, BA '14, LLB (Hons) '14

Simon Dickson has been awarded a prestigious R.G. Menzies Scholarship to Harvard. He will undertake a Masters in Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government where he plans to explore the relationship between media, politics and public policy.

Claire Carton, Managing Partner at Griffin Legal, has been recognised as Law Firm Leader of the Year (<200 Employees) in the 2018 Australasian Law Awards. Her expertise is in commercial law including corporate governance, property law, and contracts.

Pria O'Sullivan has been appointed Partner at Maddocks in the Canberra office. She was previously Special Counsel in the projects and real estate group for King & Wood Mallesons and Special Counsel at MinterEllison.

Janey Draper moves to Sky News Australia

Janey Draper, BEc '98, LLB (Hons) '00

Sport/Media/Entertainment specialist Janey Draper has returned to Australia after 12 years overseas. Now Head of Legal at Sky News, she was Vice President of Legal at FOX Networks Group Asia in Singapore & Chef de Service Juridique for Eurosport in Paris.

In early May Jane Stapleton, currently Master of Christ's College Cambridge, delivered the prestigious Clarendon Law Lectures in the University of Oxford. The lectures are available on the Oxford Law Faculty website.

Andrew Battison has joined Norton Rose Fulbright’s international arbitration practice group in its Sydney office. He was previously a Partner in Allen & Overy’s Singapore office.

Jamila Rizvi has been appointed Editor-in-Large of Future Women - a site aimed at professional women and female entrepreneurs. She is the author of best-selling books, ‘The Motherhood’ and ‘Not Just Lucky’, and the former Editor-in-Chief of Mamamia.

Josie Dempster has received the 2018 Katrina Dawson Award from the NSW Bar Association. The Award encourages women to practise at the NSW Bar Association. Josie is an Associate in the Commercial Insurance practice group at Sparke Helmore.
