Wyborn received Pro Bono Service Award

Jennifer Wyborn has received the 2018 Pro Bono Service Award at the ACT Law Society Awards. She has been the Partner leading the Clayton Utz Pro Bono practice in Canberra since 2016 and also sits on the Board of the Clayton Utz Foundation.

Julie Dobinson has received the 2018 President’s Medal at the ACT Law Society Awards. She has dedicated her time to serve on various boards and Committees including the Canberra Region Family Law Professionals Association and Law Australasia.

McKay jointly awarded ACT Young Lawyer of the Year

Georgina McKay , GDLP ‘14

Georgina McKay has jointly received the 2018 ACT Young Law of the Year Award at the ACT Law Society Awards. She is a Legal Officer in the Transnational Crime Section of DFAT’s Legal Division and has a passion for promoting gender equality.

Kristofferson jointly awarded ACT Young Lawyer of the Year

Kellin Kristofferson , LLB (Hons) ’13, GDLP ’14

Kellin Kristofferson has jointly received the 2018 ACT Young Law of the Year Award at the ACT Law Society Awards. Kellin is the Principal of Artisan Law, which is part a small law firm and part a social initiative providing a mobile pro bono service.

ANU Law alumnus Chris Steel MLA has been announced as the ACT’s newest minister. He is responsible for city services, community services and facilities, multicultural affairs and roads.

Winters receives 2018 Charlie Perkins Scholarship

Geoffrey Winters, GDLP '16

Geoffrey Winters has received a 2018 Charlie Perkins Scholarship to undertake a Master of Public Policy at Balliol College, Oxford. A Walgett man from Richmond, NSW, he is the current director at Chalk & Behrendt, Lawyers and Consultants.

Mykytowycz appointed Magistrate

Michelle Mykytowycz, BA ’96, GDLP ’07

Michelle Mykytowycz has been appointed a new Magistrate of the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria. She has worked as a barrister practicing in criminal law matters and worked with the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Taylor appointed ACT’s first Aboriginal judicial officer

Louise Taylor , BA ’01, LLB ‘01

Louise Taylor has been announced as the ACT’s first Aboriginal judicial officer. She has been appointed as the eighth permanent magistrate at the ACT Magistrates Court. She has practiced law in the ACT for more than 15 years.

Stouppos new head of comcare

Shine Lawyers has appointed Katrina Stouppos as its new head of comcare. The new role will see her as the team leader for federal compensation law across comcare, aviation, maritime and travel law.

Woolcott named as new APS Commissioner

Peter Woolcott AO, BA '76, LLB '77

Peter Woolcott AO has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Australian Public Service Commission. He was previously Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister and Australia's High Commissioner to New Zealand.
