Rio Tinto NTRB Scholarships
Applications

Rio Tinto is once again offering two scholarships to lawyers
currently working or interested in working at Native Title Representative
Bodies (NTRBs) or Native Title Service Providers (NTSPs).
Successful candidates will undertake a one-year Master of Laws (LLM)
in Mineral Law and Policy at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral
Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee and must commit
to work within an NTRB or NTSP for a minimum period of two years upon
their return.
Candidates must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and reside
in Australia and there is no age restriction for applicants. FaHCSIA
provides an additional AU$15,000 towards the living expenses of those
recipients of the scholarship who are working within the NTRB system
at the time they receive the scholarship.

The
Phillipa Weeks Scholarship in Law
Applications close November
2009
The scholarship is available to a person who:
- is a successful applicant for entry to the first year of a program
of study leading to the award of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) whether undertaken
as a single degree or part of a combined program;
- has attended secondary school in a regional or remote area of Australia;
- has completed school in the last 12 months; and
- is a citizen of or holds permanent resident status in Australia.

Workshop GDLP Indigenous Scholarship Scheme

scholarships commencing in 2010
Up to two scholarships per year to cover the fees payable by an Indigenous
student to study the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP) at ANU
Legal Workshop.

The
Freilich Indigenous Student Scholarship in Law
Applications

The Freilich Indigenous Student Scholarship in Law is to assist people
in the Indigenous Community who would like to attend University to obtain
a degree in Law to further their career aspirations.
The Freilich Scholarship is available to a person who:
- Is a member of the Indigenous community in their first year of study;
- Is a successful applicant for entry to the first year of a program
of study leading to the award of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or the Juris
Doctor (JD) whether undertaken as a single degree or part of a combined
program; and
- is a citizen of or holds permanent resident status in Australia.

International Court of Justice Traineeship Scholarship
The deadline for applications
is 15 January 2010
An ANU College of Law scholarship to support the International Court
of Justice Traineeship Program. The purpose of the scholarship is to
defray the living expenses of the successful applicant while undertaking
the traineeship. It is proposed to offer one scholarship a year in accordance
with the program dates of the Court.

General Sir John Monash Awards
Applications

General Sir John Monash Awards are available for study at any leading
overseas university in the chosen field of study. Candidates must be
Australian citizens who have completed (or expect to complete this year)
their degree from an Australian University. Monash Awards are valued
at up to AUD $150,000 over 3 years.
In addition to academic excellence, candidates for these awards must
be able to demonstrate outstanding leadership ability and community
service.

The
Rhodes Scholarships Australia
Applications

To be eligible to apply for a 2010 Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford, candidates
must be Australian citizens, be under 25 years on 1 October and have
