• Expert Workshop: "Ensuring Accountability - Terrorist Challenges and State Responses in a Free Society", National Europe Centre (20-21 April 2006).

• Employment of ARC Research Associate Dr Gabriele Porretto (from March).
• Creation of project website.
• Collection of empirical data on siege mentality and responses to terrorism.
• Hosting ANU Summer Scholar Marisa Macpherson (University of Otago, NZ). Marisa completed a paper analysing the Commonwealth's preventative detention regime from the perspective of the international human rights law relating to arbitrary detention.
2004
• Hosting ANU Summer Scholars Colin Fife (University of Canterbury, NZ), Hayley Jordan (Flinders University, SA) and research student David Duncan (Queen’s University, Canada).
