| Biography |
Michael Kobetsky joined the Faculty of Law in 1992 and teaches taxation law. Michael was a senior adviser in the Australian Taxation Office in the policy and legislation group for 10 years where he was responsible for developing international tax policy and legislation. Michael has presented conference papers both in Australia, New Zealand, Europe and China. His research interests include international taxation and tax treaty interpretation. Michael has worked for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Library as a consultant preparing Bills Digests for members and senators on tax legislation being debated in Parliament. Michael has also been a consultant to the Federal Department of Family and Community Services to design measures to counter the use of discretionary trusts and private companies to avoid income and assets tests. Michael is the principal author of an income tax text which is now in its fifth edition. He has published articles in Australia, Europe and Canada on tax reform and international taxation. |
