Biography

Wendy Kukulies-Smith was appointed as a Teaching Fellow at the ANU College of Law in 2008. Prior to this she has worked as a research assistant to Professor Simon Bronitt, Professor Tom Campbell, Professor Adrienne Stone and Distinguished Professor Peter Cane. She has worked on a number of large research projects including those involving Terrorism, Bill of Rights and Administrative Tribunals.

In 2006 - 2007, Wendy worked at the National Judicial College of Australia on the creation of the Commonwealth Sentencing Database. The Database is an online aid for judicial officers. In this role she developed and drafted the 'Principles and Practice' component of the Database which provides authoritative commentary on legislative provisions and sentencing principles governing Commonwealth criminal offences. She is currently the editor of the 'Principles and Practice' component of the CSD.

Wendy has taught in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Australian National University and the University of Canberra. Her teaching areas are Criminal Law and Procedure, Legal Theory, Military Law and Foundations of Australian Law.

Scholarly Interests criminal justice, criminal law, gender, sentencing, legal history and comparative law.
