Ricky has a long history and passion in digital media, which he attributes to his addiction to playing and programming computer games since the age of 4. His hobbies, studies and professional work have usually involved some sort of mix of programming, music composition, game design, animation, video production and education.
Ricky's career started in small Canberra-based multimedia businesses, and later shifted to running his own business, Blade Interactive. During this time he created CD-ROMs/CD-Cards, touch screens, videos, websites, games, training applications and components of an LMS.
He joined the ANU in late 2003 and worked for the Centre for Cross Cultural Research. In 2004 he moved to Law into a new AV and multimedia position to help lecturers create and deliver more media-rich content in their courses (particularly in online courses). He worked at Law for around 3 years, then spent a year and a half working for the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade), providing educational design and interactive content in online courses for the Austrade staff located in 60 countries around the world. With his expanded skills and experience from the online learning world of Austrade, Ricky returned to the Law IT&C Unit in 2008. He continues to provide audiovisual and multimedia support for staff, as well as research and development in new technologies for media creation and education.
Ricky's side hobbies include iPhone programming. His latest project, Pogg, is an iPhone and iTouch game for kids that is receiving excellent reviews from parents, teachers and professional app reviewers.
...he also likes chips and gravy, and Makka Pakka. ...!?
