PROFESSOR PHILLIPA WEEKS
After a year-long battle with cancer, our beloved friend and colleague
Professor Phillipa Weeks passed away on Friday 4 August 2006.
Phillipa was one of Australia's leading experts in labour law and
property law, a highly respected scholar, and an inspirational teacher
loved and revered by her students. Above all, her warmth, compassion
and empathy for her fellow human beings, her selfless devotion to
her institution and her discipline, and her caring nature, made
her an extraordinary role model for all those who knew her. The
ANU community is enveloped in deep sadness over the tragically premature
loss of a wonderful colleague who still had so much to give.
The funeral was held on Wednesday 9 August 2006 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church,
Watson, and a memorial gathering was held at the law school on Thursday 31 August 2006,
at which a tree was planted in Phillipa's memory.
