ANZSIL, the Australian and New Zealand Society of
International Law, brings together the region’s leading thinkers
and practitioners in all spheres of international law.

ANZSIL was established in 1992 with the aims of:

  • Developing and promoting the discipline of international law.
  • Supporting the teaching of international law.
  • Providing a forum for academics, government lawyers, NGOs, students and practitioners of international law to discuss research and issues of practice in international law.
  • Increasing public awareness and understanding of international law.
  • Liaising with other bodies in promoting any of these objects.

The principal activity of ANZSIL in furtherance of these aims is the convening of an annual conference.
The ANZSIL conference, held in Canberra or Wellington, has established itself as the principal forum for international lawyers in Australia and New Zealand.

The ANZSIL International Economic Law Interest Group is a forum for those interested in public international economic law, especially international regulation of trade, investment, intellectual property and monetary law. For more information on the group and how to join, click here.

ANZSIL is hosted by the Australian National University's Centre for International and Public Law
and the Victorian University of Wellington's New Zealand Centre for Public Law.

ANZSIL member Don Anton of the ANU College of Law has established a weekly digest of scholarship on international law. The Digest - Anton's Weekly Digest of International Law Scholarship -- is available on-line and by email subscription. The Digest brings together material (including abstracts, summaries and references) of the following types of publications
