Canberra Seminar in Australian Law
Canberra Seminar
in Australian Law 2008
The 2008 program was also a success, with students completing the program by spending time at ANU (Canberra) and the University of New South Wales (Sydney). The opportunity to attend the program was offered at several Japanese universities. Students were placed in a home stay environment, and divided their time between intensive English study, an introduction to Australian law and various activities in the afternoon.

Overview
In February 2007, 18 undergraduate
law students from Aoyama Gakuin University, accompanied by Professor
Eizumi, attended 2 weeks of classes at the Australian National University.
During the first week students
attended intensive English Language classes provided by ANU Enterprise.
In week 2 students were given lectures introducing them to different
areas of Australian law. Over the 2 week period, students also had
the opportunity to visit some great sites around Canberra including
Questacon, the High Court of Australia, both Parliament houses and
the National Gallery of Australia.
Students were hosted by Canberra families,
and learned to use the local buses to get around. They also had
a great time enjoying the shopping delights of the Canberra Centre.
Overall, students commented their
English did improve, especially their listening comprehension skills,
and that they learnt a lot about Australian law.
