The Australian Institute of Administrative Law Inc awards an AIAL Essay Prize in Administrative Law every two years. The next prize will be awarded in 2011, and details for how to enter an essay will be published early in 2011.

The 2009 AIAL Essay Prize was won by Tristan Robinson with an essay entitled "Federal FOI Reform and Media Access to Government Information: A Transparency Revolution or Just a Better Foothold?" The essay will be published in an upcoming edition of AIAL Forum.
The 2007 AIAL Essay Prize was won by Rachel Harris with an essay "Avoiding the Worst of All Worlds: Government Accountability for Outsourced Employment Services". The essay is published in (2007) 54 AIAL Forum 3.
