The Phillipa Weeks Scholarship in Law

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 28 November 2008

The scholarship is available to a person who:

  • is a successful applicant for entry to the first year of a program of study leading to the award of Bachelor of Laws (LLB) whether undertaken as a single degree or part of a combined program;
  • has attended secondary school in a regional or remote area of Australia;
  • has completed school in the last 12 months; and
  • is a citizen of or holds permanent resident status in Australia.

Legal Workshop Indigenous Student Scholarship Scheme

Up to two scholarships per year to cover the fees payable by an Indigenous student to study the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (GDLP) at ANU Legal Workshop.

Timeline for applications:
July - scholarship advertised on Law School web page and circulated to universities
August/September - Scholarship advertised in Koori Times up to 6 weeks before deadline date.
October - deadline date 10 October 2008
October/November - applications considered and scholarship winners notified and announced.
January 2009 - scholarship holders commence study with Legal Workshop.

International Court of Justice Traineeship Scholarship

An ANU College of Law scholarship to support the International Court of Justice Traineeship Program. The purpose of the scholarship is to defray the living expenses of the successful applicant while undertaking the traineeship. It is proposed to offer one scholarship a year in accordance with the program dates of the Court.

2008 Fulbright Scholarship applications now open
Valued at up to $A40,000, Fulbright scholarships are open to Australian citizens to undertake research or study in the United States for 3 – 12 months. Scholarships can be started between 1 July 2008 and 30 June 2009.

Applications are open to Postgraduates (to do research related to their Australian PhD. or enrol in a US degree); Postdoctoral, Professional and Senior Scholars from any field of study.

MONASH AWARDS
Applications are now invited for the Rhodes Australia-At-Large Scholarships to Oxford and the General Sir John Monash Awards for 2008.

To be eligible to apply for a 2008 Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford, candidates must be Australian citizens, be under 25 years on 1 October and have completed (or expect to complete this year) their degree with first class honours. Rhodes applications are due 3 September.

General Sir John Monash Awards are available for study at any leading overseas university in the chosen field of study. Candidates must be Australian citizens who have completed (or expect to complete this year) their degree from an Australian University. Monash Awards are valued at up to AUD $150,000 over 3 years. Monash applications are due 31 August.

In addition to academic excellence, candidates for these scholarships must be able to demonstrate outstanding leadership ability and community service.
