Services: The Centre:
- offers free and confidential counselling
- offers free workshops and seminars designed to help with study related concerns
      - there are also some powerpoint presentations and audio recordings online
- provides useful practical information on website such as:
      - several Brochures on a range of common issues which students face, including study-related problems (eg 'Overcoming Exam Anxiety', 'Work and Study Too' and 'The 10 Best Ever Anxiety Management Techniques')
- Runs a "Get Up and Go" program - linking you up with another student who has volunteered to be a walking buddy.

(b) ANU Sports Union

Services: The Union provides:
- Fitness Centre, with Weight Training Gymnasium, Heavy Weights Room, Circuit Room and Cardio Theatre
- Group fitness classes
- Classes run throughout the year, including yoga and meditation classes
- Massage centre
- Co-ordinates team sport competitions throughout the year

(c) ANU Students Association Welfare Officer

Services: The Welfare Officer provides free information, advocacy and referral on a range of welfare related issues to students including:
- information, applications and appeal assistance on Government Income Support Benefits provided by Centrelink, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy, Abstudy, disability support pensions, parenting payments and health care cards.
- financial assistance, such as Emergency Loans, applications for the undergraduate loan scheme, budgeting and financial counselling, referrals to services within ANU and referrals to other welfare services.
- From July to October each year, the Welfare Officer hosts the ATO Taxation Help Program. Low-income earners can have their tax returns prepared for free by ATO trained volunteers. General taxation information is provided all year round.

(d) Canberra Men's Centre (CMC)

(e) Citizens Advice Bureau

Services: The Bureau provides information on ACT community agencies, as well as referral and support.


(f) Tenants’ Union ACT Inc

Services: The Union provides:
- a telephone advice service on tenancy issues (02 6247 2011) open 9:30am - 1pm, Monday to Friday, and 4.30 - 8pm Tuesday nights.
- their website also provides information on tenants' rights and responsibilities
- they conduct free community education and training on tenancy issues, for community groups, workplaces, schools and other groups of interested people.

(g) Migrant Resource Centre (ACT)

Services: The MRC is a community based organisation that assists migrants and refugees in the ACT region to settle successfully in Australia. Services include:
Services we provide include:
- Community information, pamphlets and newspapers in many languages.
- A large range of research papers and reports on multicultural issues, for example aged care and the Cultural Dictionary.
- Programs and advisory services, for example migration advice (a fortnightly pro bono immigration advice service).
- An emergency relief fund to assist people facing a financial crisis.
- Translating and interpreting services.

(h) Women’s Information and Referral Centre (WIRC)

(i) Domestic Violence Crisis Centre

Services: The Centre aims to promote the safety of those people subjected to domestic violence, and to locate the responsibility for violence and abuse with those people who use it. A confidential service, the DVCS:

(a) provides crisis intervention, advocacy, referral, information, support and practical assistance for people subjected to, or using, violence and abuse in relationships, giving priority to those subjected to violence;

(b) encourages those who use violence and abuse in relationships to take responsibility for, and cease, this behaviour;

(c) addresses the problem of violence and abuse in personal relationships, and associated issues


(j) Youth Law (ACT)

Services: provides a free legal and referral service for young people in the ACT.

(k) Women's Legal Centre (ACT & Region)

Services: The Centre is run by women and aims to improve women's access to justice by:
  • Providing legal information and advice on a range of legal problems including divorce and separation, disputes over children, property settlement, domestic violence, child support, going to court, discrimination, unfair dismissal and other employment rights, and compensation for criminal injuries
  • Referring to sympathetic lawyers and other support services
  • Running community legal education sessions
  • Producing information for women about their rights, the legal system and the law
  • Doing research, law reform and lobbying activities that help to remove barriers to women’s access to justice
  • Publishing a quarterly newsletter about their activities
