Services: The Welfare Officer provides
free information, advocacy and referral on a range
of welfare related issues to students including:
- information, applications and appeal assistance
on Government Income Support Benefits provided
by Centrelink, such as Youth Allowance, Austudy,
Abstudy, disability support pensions, parenting
payments and health care cards.
- financial assistance, such as Emergency Loans,
applications for the undergraduate loan scheme,
budgeting and financial counselling, referrals
to services within ANU and referrals to other
welfare services.
- From July to October each year, the Welfare
Officer hosts the ATO Taxation Help Program. Low-income
earners can have their tax returns prepared for
free by ATO trained volunteers. General taxation
information is provided all year round.

Services: The Centre aims to promote the
safety of those people subjected to domestic violence,
and to locate the responsibility for violence
and abuse with those people who use it. A confidential
service, the DVCS:
(a) provides crisis intervention, advocacy,
referral, information, support and practical
assistance for people subjected to, or using,
violence and abuse in relationships, giving
priority to those subjected to violence;
(b) encourages those who use violence and
abuse in relationships to take responsibility
for, and cease, this behaviour;
(c) addresses the problem of violence and
abuse in personal relationships, and associated
issues
