ANU-Alabama Joint Summer Program

Ten ANU undergraduate law students will be given the opportunity
to travel to Alabama for a five week program. In 2012 students
will arrive in Tuscaloosa on Saturday 7 January and depart
Tuesday 14 February.
One semi-intensive course, Comparative Environmental Law
will be taught by Associate
Professor Heather Elliott (University of Alabama) and
an ANU Law staff member (tbc).
Another semi-intensive course, The Survey of US Law, introducing
various aspects of US Law such as Constitutional Law, Federalism,
US Courts, Environmental Law and Administrative Law, will
be taught by various members of the Alabama Law Faculty.
In conjunction with this course, UA generally organises
field trips to the Civil Rights Museum in Birmingham, the
Alabama Supreme Court, the Rosa Parks Museum, the Tuscaloosa
County Jail, and the Circuit Court of Tuscaloosa County.
Note. Students must enrol in the course to participate.
A few good reasons to participate in the program:
- On successful completion of the assessment, credit will
be given towards your degree for two courses,
with tuition fees payable as part of your HECS schedule
- You are not required to travel as a group to the USA,
so you can combine your educational experience with an
American adventure!
- Subsidised student accommodation and transport in Alabama
- Experience American culture and hospitality!
