Queensland Admission

All jurisdictions have separate requirements for admission. Please ensure you read the information provided by the Court, in particular, the Admission Information Kit for PLT students available on the QLD Law Society Website

Legal Workshop staff will not edit any admission documents. There are templates available on the admission websites for each jurisdiction. It is your responsibility to ensure that your documents are correct.

Required documentation for Admission

Examples of the all required documentation can be found on the QLD Law Society website  

The Admission Information Kit for PLT provides a checklist of documents you need to submit and should be referred to when preparing your Admission documents.

Applicants must file originals of the following documents:
1. Originating Application – Form 1;
2. Statement of Eligibility & Suitability to the Board – Form 7;
3. Letter of Completion from ANU Legal Workshop;
4. Letter from the ACT Supreme Court stating you are eligible for admission in the ACT;
5. Certificates of Suitability to the Board – Form 8 (x 3 copies);
6. Supporting disclosure documents to the Board, if necessary;

and copies or originals of the following documents:
7. LLB; and,
8. academic transcript (original must be cited by the Board if copy is used).

Academic transcript
If you do not already have your academic transcript you will need to apply for one from the Law School where you undertook your LLB.

ANU Law School students can apply for their Academic Record via the Records and Enrolments Office website

Letter of Completion of the Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice
You must notify the ANU Legal Workshop that you wish to be admitted so that a letter of completion can be provided once you have completed all the requirements of the GDLP.

You can email the ANU Legal Workshop at courtadmission@law.anu.edu.au

You will need to include in this email:
• Your name and student number;
• the jurisdiction you wish to be admitted in;
• the date you wish to attend the admission ceremony

ANU Legal Workshop will prepare your Letter of Completion and mail it directly to you.

Please be aware that we support a number of admission ceremonies in all jurisdictions and Letters of Completion are prepared and sent in the order of upcoming admission ceremonies.

Letter from the ACT Supreme Court
Once you have notified Legal Workshop of your intention to be admitted we will organise with the ACT Supreme Court to send the required letter to the Board.

Things you need to do to be admitted

Not more than 28 days but at least 14 days prior to admission all applicants must:
• advertise their Notice of Intention to Apply for Admission in the specified publications.

At least 21 days prior to admission all applicants must:
• submit a Notice of Intention to Apply for Admission;
• file in the Supreme Court Registry and serve on the Board an Originating Application and their supporting documentation.

At least 12 days prior to admission all applicants must:
• file in the Supreme Court Registry and serve on the Board an Affidavit of Compliance
When filing your affidavit, you will be required to provide the Supreme Court Registry with your movers’ details, i.e. their full name, whether they are a QC/SC/Barrister/Solicitor, and their date of admission

2 days prior to admission date the Board will issue its Certificate of recommendation. All applicants MUST:
• collect the Certificate from the Legal Practitioners Admissions Board;
• file the Certificate in the Supreme Court Registry.
